Jamaica’s famous tourist haven, Montego Bay, prepares for the Holiday season with the Roots rockin’ celebration Culture in the City. Bonner Cornerstone Music presents iconic Reggae singer Pliers, Roots Reggae superstar Richie Spice, acclaimed crooner Spanner Banner, and conscious Dancehall deejay Snatcha –collectively known as the Bonner Brothers–and friends at the Zinc Shack on Mobay’s popular Gloucester Avenue ‘hip strip’ on December 18th.

Backed by the All Spice Band, the Bonner brothers will hit the ‘hip strip’ with Root Reggae warrior Junior X, and famed singer/record producer Timmi Burrell.

A representative from Bonner Cornerstone Music reported that Culture in the City is the inaugural event in a series dedicated to celebrating the musical legacy of the Bonner family.

The brothers have a collective catalogue that spans nearly two decades and includes some of the island’s biggest international hit singles including Plier’s remake of Toots and the Maytal’s “Bam Bam,” Richie Spice’s “Earth a Run Red,” “Youth Dem Cold” and “Brown Skin,” Spanner Banner’s anthem “Life Goes On,” and Snatcha’s recent release “No More War.” As part of the duo Chaka Demus and Pliers, Pliers scored the international hits “Tease Me,” “Twist and Shout,” a funky Raggae remake of the Isley Brothers classic, and the 1992 dancehall anthem “Murder She Wrote” which the duo performed with R&B soulstress Alicia Keys at the 2007 American Music Awards.

Culture in the City featuring Pliers, Richie Spice, Spanner Banner, Snatcha, Junior X, and Timmi Burrell will be held at the Zinc Shack (55 Gloucester Avenue) in Montego Bay on December 18th. Admission is $1,000 (JA). For more tickets and more information contact bonnercornerstonemusic@yahoo.com.
