Wasp Touches Lives With New Video

wasp_IIFast rising dancehall deejay Marvin Clarke better known as Wasp has been enjoying a splendid year riding high atop numerous local charts while copping his first international number one (#1) in Canada with his ‘Unfair /Officer’ single.

The deejay now a household name locally has done it again with the release of his follow-up single titled “Cry Fi Dem”, the somber ballad speaks to the plight of the less fortunate and their struggles to maintain daily existence.

A week following its release the single produced by Damien Gayle started gaining traction which led the Cassia Park native to contract the services of A-List video directing company Scorpio 21 to bring the masterful composition to life.

The black and white video shot throughout the thoroughfares of Half-Way Tree, Downtown Kingston and the Quarries of Bull Bay brought to life the gripping and harsh realities of the poor and sometimes unforgotten souls that call the streets of Kingston Metropolis home. The project sees cameos from fellow crooner Ninja Ford and reggae songstress Etana.

Since its premier two weeks ago the video seems to have struck a nerve with several fans and industry players who have hailed it as breath of fresh air in the midst of the now infamous Gully/Gaza feud currently gripping the nation. Many have even attested to it changing their perspective on the treatment of the homeless and needy.

Following last Monday’s performance at West Kingston Jamboree, Wasp is busy recording several new singles for the upcoming holiday season ahead of his much anticipated performance at Sting slated for Jam World, Portmore. The deejay known for songs such as ‘Step to Dem’ and ‘Attack’ amongst countless others recently returned to the island after completing a stint in Grand Cayman.
