A police corporal accused of fondling one of his colleagues genitals while on patrol duty is now in custody facing sexual assault charges.

The policeman, whose name has not been released, was arrested Monday by members of the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse (CISOCA) at his home in Kingston.

His arrest followed a two-month probe.

It is reported that the Corporal who is attached to the Motorised Patrol Unit was on mobile patrol with a constable when he grabbed the policeman’s crotch and began fondling him.

The constable later reported the incident to his superiors and the matter was handed over to CISOCA.

A senior officer at CISOCA confirmed the Corporal’ arrest, but declined to give details.

A file is now being prepared for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
