Sean Paul, Jay Sean Collab back in Billboard Top Ten
Do You Remember, the collaboration by British-born pop sensation Jay Sean and Jamaican dancehall megastar Sean Paul has made its way into the Billboard Top Ten, some weeks after Sean Paul and Jay Sean shot the video for the single with the third person on the project, Hip-Hop crunk king Lil’ Jon.
Sean Paul, who in August 2009 released his fourth studio album, put his dancehall flair on the track after meeting up with Jay Sean at the MTV Video Music Awards. When released, Do You Remember began to blaze charts all over the world, including the very popular Billboard Hot 100 and iTunes Top 100 charts.
The song’s climb to the Billboard Hot 100 top ten, says Sean Paul, is testimony to the energy of the song, of which he spoke in the early days of the collaboration.
“I knew it was a song that would have life. The energy we put in the song and even the video was just crazy,” Sean Paul said from Canada.
In addition to making its way back into the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, the song continues to do well on four other Billboard charts. At the end of last week, Do You Remember was #13 on the Pop Songs chart, #14 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart and #9 on the Digital Songs charts. It is also #18 on the Radio Songs chart.
Sean Paul has nabbed a Grammy nomination for his latest album, Imperial Blaze, which was completely produced and recorded in Jamaica by Jamaican producers. The album blazed a path of success, making Sean Paul the first Jamaican to top the Billboard Rap Charts and the album the first dancehall album to do so as well. Imperial Blaze also broke records in Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. At the end of 2009, Billboard Magazine named Sean Paul the reggae artiste of the decade, and listed his two other Atlantic Records albums, Dutty Rock and The Trinity as top reggae albums of the era as well.
