Double EME nominated recording artiste Wasp is fast becoming an entertainer to watch for 2010 as he continues to redefine the role of dancehall music in Jamaica. Last weekend the deejay born Marvin Clarke was called upon to lend his support to an effort by the United States of America Embassy to aid the victims of the recent Haiti earthquakes.

The event hosted on Friday, January 22 at the Crown Plaza in Manor Park saw a bevy of American diplomats and high profile officials in attendance. Following a performance by cultural crooner Bescenta, Wasp took the stage and without a glitch, delivered a short but inspirational set with songs such as ‘Unfair Officer’ before closing with his current tribute ‘Cry Fi Haiti’ a remake of his No.1 hit single ‘Cry Fi Dem’. He was followed by teen sensation G-Whizz. Other entertainers on the roster included cultural singers, Ninja Ford, Nesbeth, Richie Stephen, L.U.S.T and dancehall acts RDX and Beenie Man.

Earlier in the day the fast rising deejay made a stop at Waterford High in Portmore as part of the the KLAS High School tour, where he closed the show in front of hundreds of jubilant students who at one point refused to allow him to exit stage. Other performers on the tour included singing sensation I-Octane, D-Major , Ice Man, Ninja Ford and Influential among others.

The Cassia Park native armed with three bonafide No.1 hits and two new videos is gearing up to release several singles in the coming weeks as he prepares for the prestigious Excellent In Music & Entertainment Awards (EME) show to be held on Thursday February 4th at the lawns of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston. Wasp received two nominations in the categories of ‘Best New Artiste’ and ‘Most Improved Artiste’.
